2001-2003, Artist in Residence, Westminster Cathedral
Sue was invited by Westminster Cathedral to create a body of work describing the ‘life of the Cathedral, in between the services’. The result was a series of paintings inspired by her observations, especially of visitors sitting quietly in repose. Using a predominantly dark and warm palette, she sought to describe the notions of the ‘unseen and unknowable’, in monumental surroundings, both dark and partially decorated.
